Rochester Rules When It Comes To Jobs (And Housing)
By Tom Dunn | September 29, 2008
Today, I was watching the news and I happened to come across a report that the housing market here in Rochester NY is remarkably stable compared to the rest of the country. No surprise there… I’ve been preaching that for a long time now.
You’ll find all sorts of reasons for this fact, but none is more important than our stable job market. Sure we’ve lost some major employers over the last few years, and Kodak is a shadow of it’s former powerful self, but the fact remains that Rochester’s job market, and by extension it’s housing market, is strong.
The presence of literally hundreds of small tech and manufacturing companies, many of which are growing and hiring more people every month, invigorates Rochester’s local economy. Sure, we’ve felt the housing pinch here in Rochester like other places have.
Just not as much.
